June 23 1997 MADE IN SHEFFIELD IN
LOTTERY BID
Internet company
Made In Sheffield Dot Com
has applied for a lottery cash grant to fund an
on-line arts directory
and events diary for the Sheffield area.
The Orchard Square
company hopes to gain
£5,000 from the new Arts Council Arts for
Everyone (A4E) scheme funded
by the National Lottery. The free directory will
contain descriptions and
photographs of the work of local artists and
craftspeople and will run
alongside an arts diary promoting the region's
creative events.
The bid has
received support from the
Yorkshire Artspace Society. Development and
Projects Director Kate Dore
said: "Local artists often find it very
difficult to sell their work so this initiative
will be a great help in presenting their work to
an international audience for
the first time ever."
The arts directory
and diary are the latest
additions to the Made In Sheffield web site,
which will also include a virtual
Cyberstore selling Sheffield made goods.
Made In Sheffield
Managing Director Wendi Hebb said:
"The directory will allow local artists to
join together under the collective
banner of Made In Sheffield to benefit from the
interest generated by the
launch of our on-line Cyberstore this
autumn."
Anyone interested
in joining the arts directory should contact
the Arts Co-ordinator at Made In Sheffield on
0114 249 3770.
Ends.
